  5. Mosaic Netscape 0.9 (public beta version) is free for your personal use,
  6. subject to the terms detailed in the license agreement accompanying it.

  8. Subject to the timing and results of this beta cycle, Mosaic Communications
  9. will release Mosaic Netscape 1.0, also available free for personal use
  10. via the Internet.  It will be subject to license terms; please review them
  11. when and if you obtain Mosaic Netscape 1.0.

  13. A commercial version of Mosaic Netscape 1.0, including technical support from 
  14. Mosaic Communications, will be available upon completion of the 
  15. beta cycle.

  24. Mosaic Netscape requires System 7 and an 020 processor. It will not run on 
  25. a Mac Plus, SE, Classic, or Powerbook 100. It will run on an SE/30, Classic II, 
  26. other Powerbooks, and any Mac II-series machine. It will also run on Power 
  27. Macintoshes. It does not require a color monitor, but at least 256 colors are 
  28. very much recommended.

  54. * Download mosaic-netscape-B09.sit.hqx using ASCII mode.

  56. * Use your favorite unbinhexing program (such as Stuffit Expander) on it. The 
  57.   result will be a self-extracting archive. Double-click to uncompress it.

  59. * Double-click again on Mosaic Netscape icon to run.

  61. * When you run Netscape for the first time, you should set your name,
  62.   email address, mail server, news server, and downloads/temporary
  63.   directory in "Options:Preferences."

  68. * Netscape will use all of its available memory for caching. For better
  69.   caching, increase its memory partition.

  71. * If you would like to use external viewers for jpeg and gif files,
  72.   specify this in "Options:Preferences:Helper Applications".

  74. * If you do many FTP downloads and are on an Ethernet network, you may get a speed
  75.   increase by setting the network buffer size to 4K or so. However, this may decrease
  76.   responsiveness. Conversely, if you normally dial up via a 14.4K modem connection,
  77.   decreasing the buffer size to 1K may help.

  80.   expiration of  global history  to something less than 30 days.

  90.   can easily change the default GIF/JPEG application in "Preferences"
